Technical Specifications

Precipitation

The station uses two rain gauges to measure rainfall in millimeters (mm). This data is critical for monitoring precipitation trends, flood warnings, and agricultural planning.

  • Rain Gauge 1 & 2: Instantaneous rainfall amounts.
  • Total Today: Cumulative rainfall measured from midnight to current time.
  • Total Prior: Rainfall totals recorded for previous periods.

Temperature

Multiple sensors measure ambient temperature in degrees Celsius (°C) to help assess weather conditions, human comfort, and environmental monitoring.

  • BMX Temperature 1: Core air temperature sensor providing precise readings.
  • MCP Temperature 1: Auxiliary temperature sensor for redundancy and calibration.
  • SHT Temperature: Combined temperature and humidity sensor.
  • Wet Bulb: Represents temperature accounting for moisture evaporation.
  • WBGT: Composite measurement for heat stress (Temp + Humidity + Wind + Sun).

Wind

Wind data is vital for weather prediction, aviation, marine navigation, and structural engineering.

  • Wind Speed: Velocity of air movement (m/s).
  • Wind Direction: Compass direction of origin (°).
  • Wind Gust: Peak wind speeds in short bursts.
  • Gust Direction: Direction from which the gust originates (°).

Solar Irradiance

Using the SI1145 sensor, the station measures downwelling irradiance in three spectral bands, supporting solar power and agricultural studies.

  • Visible Light (SI1145): Intensity of visible sunlight.
  • Infrared (SI1145): Infrared radiation affecting heat absorption.
  • Ultraviolet (SI1145): UV radiation levels relevant for skin exposure.

Air Pressure

Measured in hectopascals (hPa), pressure data is used for weather forecasting, storm tracking, and altitude estimation.

  • BMX Pressure 1: Primary atmospheric pressure sensor.

Humidity

Provides insight into moisture levels in the air, impacting weather, health, and agriculture.

  • SHT Humidity: Relative humidity expressed as a percentage (%).
